Farming Operations Manager – Victoria & Tasmania

Your opportunity to join us in Victoria!

As Farming Operations Manager for Victoria and Tasmania (based at our Somerville site), you will oversee a dedicated team with responsibility for managing the performance of our Breeder, Hatchery and Broiler farms across the two states. Additionally, you will oversee all transport, catching and live haul operations whilst working closely with our processing sites and other business and industry stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage performance of company operated breeder farms, hatchery and contract broiler farms across the states
  • Manage contract chick/egg transport, catching and live haul operations
  • Lead and support the team to ensure a clear understanding of requirements relating to animal welfare, safety, quality, sustainability and customer requirements
  • Coach and develop the team to ensure they have capability to meet personal and performance goals
  • Drive and implement continuous improvement and sustainability initiatives across all operations including breeder and grower performance
  • Work closely with cross functional teams including processing, Northern NSW breeder farms and external industry partners
  • Manage and monitor budget and spend across the states
  • Lead and complete projects on time, within framework and to budget

Key requirements:

  • Extensive farming experience gained in a large, complex business
  • Excellent people leadership skills with the ability to build, lead and develop teams to create a positive and collaborative working environment
  • Strong understanding of poultry welfare along with sound knowledge of safety, environmental and compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to develop and implement farming plans to budget with strong analytical capability and effective P&L and budget management skills
  • Superior communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally to build strong relationships across the business and with external industry partners
