Your opportunity to join our team

As the Broiler Farm Manager in Longford, you will oversee a 4-shed farm with over 55,000 birds. You will work with a close-knit team, taking full responsibility for bird husbandry and daily farm operations. This role includes ensuring production standards are met, training and supervising staff, and maintaining compliance with strict biosecurity and health and safety regulations.

This position will require onsite residence which is based at our Longford Farm.

Responsibilities include

  • Daily operations of the farm and Staff to meet production standards
  • Husbandry management of the flock, ensuring all livestock is treated humanely in compliance with Inghams Minimum Standard Procedures
  • Mortality checks and monitoring flock health with support from the company veterinarian and Broiler team.
  • Lead, coach, and develop those reporting to you to ensure they meet performance goals
  • Drive a strong safety culture with corrective and preventative safety programs which focus on safety
  • Lead all farm maintenance work and engage with contractors for repairs as required
  • Identify, drive and embed continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency programmes
  • Ensure Quarantine requirements are implemented, and Biosecurity measures adhered to
  • Periodically visit and advise contract growers on farming techniques, production processes and farm sanitisation techniques.
  • Operate and maintain animal health and feed monitoring equipment
  • Examine and consider environmental and other factors that influence the growth, health and production of livestock

You will bring to this role

  • Previous hands-on experience in a similar farming operations role (poultry experience desirable)
  • Experience in leading, coaching and motivating a team
  • A good understanding of modern broiler farming methods, a commitment to animal welfare. A keen interest in understanding the ways in which farming impacts the environment
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in the use of the Microsoft suite
  • High attention to detail and demonstrated ability to plan, prioritise and organise work demands and meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated understanding and exposure to both Biosecurity and Animal Welfare principles
