Assistant Warehouse and Distribution Manager

Lytton, Queensland

Purpose of the role

As the Assistant Warehouse and Distribution Manager you will be responsible for driving the daily standard work across the distribution centre, meeting time sensitive deadlines with internal and external customers, effectively leading large teams and continuously improving ways of work to deliver supply chain excellence.

Accountabilities

  • Drive corrective and preventative Safety Systems with a focus on behavioural safety
  • Ensure timely delivery of the highest quality products to our customers
  • Manage team targets, monitor performance and resolve issues ensuring compliance with Ingham’s Standard Procedures
  • Ensure the implementation of safety and quality assurance practices into all operations activities and manage corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, develop clear succession plans along with training plans to increase multi-skilling
  • Ensure all team members comply with all company and legal requirements
  • Manage the production team, with a focus on driving continuous improvement initiatives though cost reduction, improved efficiencies, with clear communication across all levels
  • Assist with the preparation of the production programs to ensure Ingham’s customers’ requirements and the efficient use of the company’s resources are met
  • Ensuring compliance with the company chain of responsibility (COR) and all other relevant policies, procedures and legislation
  • Lead and prepare the site for customer audits and associated compliance programs

Skills required

  • Excellent analytical skills with the strong capabilities of working with large data sets and transforming them into meaningful relevant information
  • Passionate about driving continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, efficiencies and reliability
  • Inclusive in management style, with the capabilities to engage a large team and create a collaborative working environment
  • Strong communication and problem solving skills with the ability to communicate cross functionally.
  • Build strong relationships across all levels.
  • Ability to influence large teams of 50 + and key stakeholders
  • Proven track record of achieving departmental business plans and productivity agendas
  • Ability to implement continuous improvement initiatives, familiar with 5S, TPM, and LEAN/Six Sigma
  • Strong understanding of GMP and HACCP and how these standard apply to operations
  • FMCG or pharmaceutical industry experience would be advantageous

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualified with relevant experience in manufacturing or supply chain team leadership and supervision
