As Assistant Hatchery Manager you will support the Hatchery Manager and oversee the running of the hatchery ensuring customer and welfare requirements are met and chicks are successfully delivered to the field. Alongside the day-to-day management of hatchery operations, you will support continuous improvement programs and be part of a dedicated and hard-working team.

Responsibilities include:

  • Provide support to the Hatchery Manager and oversee the day-to-day operations of the hatchery, hatching 1.2-1.4 million eggs a week
  • Deliver high level hatchery and incubation support to optimise production operations
  • Operate and maintain complex technological systems and equipment and provide training and technical support for HatchTech technology
  • Support, lead and train staff and contractors to ensure the team achieves performance goals and upholds the highest standards relating to animal/ chick welfare, safety, biosecurity and quality
  • Identify, drive and embed continuous improvement initiatives and operational efficiency programs
  • Assist with general maintenance tasks to support the upkeep of the hatchery
  • Manage all activities in the Hatchery Manager’s absence

We’re interested in people who can bring:

  • Previous experience working in a similar hatchery role
  • Excellent people skills with the ability to work well in a team environment
  • High level of commitment and dedication with the ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve and manage technical and maintenance issues
  • Ability to demonstrate modern farming and hatchery expertise and a commitment to animal welfare, biosecurity and safety
