Inghams’ First Nations scholarships support at NIDA

Inghams is proud to sponsor two First Nations scholarships with the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) for 2025, supporting talented storytellers in their pursuit of excellence in the dramatic arts.

Bronte Gosper and Rhiannon Clarke, two passionate creators, have been awarded the Inghams First Nations Scholarships to pursue their Master of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing at NIDA.

In their letters of acknowledgement addressed to Inghams, both recipients expressed how transformative this support will be for their educational journeys and creative development.

Bronte Gosper, a Wiradjuri woman from Orange NSW, brings a deep passion for storytelling that began at a young age, and has studied at Columbia University in New York before returning to Australia in early 2024. Rhiannon Clarke brings a rich cultural heritage as a Yamatji and Banjima woman from Western Australia on her mother’s side, and Gunditjmara from Southwest Victoria on her father’s side, though she was born and raised on Noongar Country in Perth/Boorloo.

After exploring different creative paths, including journalism and film production at SAE Institute, Rhiannon discovered her true calling in storytelling. “I’ve always been creative, but as a teenager, it took me a while to find the right path,” she shared in her letter.

With a particular passion for animation storytelling, Rhiannon’s ultimate dream is to own an animation studio where she can “make my mark on the world, much like Studio Ghibli and Disney have done.”

Both recipients emphasised how the financial support will alleviate the pressures of relocating and allow them to fully focus on developing their craft at NIDA over the 18-month program.

Supporting First Nations peoples’ education, artistic impacts and cultural pride is integral to Inghams’ advancement toward reconciliation. Through these scholarships, artists receive vital support for amplifying and celebrating Aboriginal culture in the arts, ensuring diverse Australian stories continue to be told on stage and screen.
