Join us as the Operations Manager where you will lead the Ingredients production team across two shifts. You will be accountable for the site’s Ingredient and protein conversion operations ensuring the successful production of Digest, Wet Pet food and OPP products.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coach and develop the ingredients production team to ensure they have the capability to meet the performance goals
  • Coach the team to ensure a clear understanding of the requirements relating to Animal Welfare, Food Safety and Quality
  • Produce the product analysis against our customers’ specifications
  • Ensure the implementation of safety and quality assurance practices into all repairs and maintenance activities and manage corrective actions in a timely manner
  • Conduct regular yield tests of products to ensure we are achieving maximum yields available
  • Lead projects to maximise the utilisation of poultry raws in both OPP and Ingredient categories
  • Establish, communicate and monitor safety standards and lead corrective action in areas of risk
  • Manage, monitor and keep within labour budget. Reduce turnover and ensure labour is the most productive
  • Manage, monitor and keep within the Reliability and Maintenance budget, forecast capital and seek approval for out of scope spend
  • Compute amount of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules and requisitions materials from storage area
  • Plan, assign and direct work
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the plant

We’re interested in people who can bring:

  • Experience in successfully leading a large production team
  • Experience working in the Pet Food Industry or Agriculture manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated implementation in any of the following, TPM, LEAN/Six Sigma and CMMS
  • Experience managing budgets and busiess financials
  • Ability to implement cultural change through leadership, engagement and performance management
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence senior stakeholders internal and external to the organisation
  • Strong people leadership capability with the ability adapt to achieve desired objectives
  • Ability to coach and develop others, monitor and measure performance and provide direct feedback
  • Capability to challenge self and others whilst taking responsibility and accountability for decisions
