Plant Manager | Thomastown

As our Plant Manager for the Thomastown site you will be responsible for the day to day operational excellence of the facility. You will have lead a across production, engineering, safety and planning and will lead continuous improvement inline with the Ingham’s strategic plan.

About the role

As Plant Manager you are responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient running of the plant and all associated supply chain functions. Leading a multi-function team, you will ensure the implementation of all strategic site plans in line with Network strategy.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Coach a skilled team to ensure a clear understanding of the requirements relating to people safety, food safety and quality
  • Inspire others with a compelling safety vision and demonstrate your commitment to reduce risks by motivating and encouraging your team
  • Develop and lead a continuous improvement culture which enables your team to improve performance and efficiency
  • Build engineering performance, increasing capability to support growth across the site
  • Coach and develop the production team to ensure they have the capability to meet the performance goals
  • Lead performance through a culture of inclusion and transparency. Maintain the strong positive and collaborative industrial relations environment
  • Gain a deep understanding of customer requirements and ensure customer expectations are exceed
  • Manage, monitor and achieve set KPI’s and budgets

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • A high level of leadership with effective communication skills
  • Ability to analyse large volumes of data and turning into purposeful insights for your team
  • Extensive experience in leading large teams in fast paced food manufacturing environment
  • Experience leading large high performance teams across multiple disciplines
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated understanding of business systems that involve costing and planning
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop relationships and influence senior stakeholders internal and external to the organisation
  • Ability to coach and develop others, monitor and measure performance and provide direct feedback. Implementing cultural change through leadership, engagement and coaching


  • Degree Qualified in Manufacturing, Agriculture, Economics or similar discipline
  • 10 years’ experience of working in the food industry
