In an era where the word ‘icon’ is often overused, Ingham’s is one of the select few Australian food brands which can lay claim to be a true Aussie icon. From humble beginnings in 1918, Ingham’s grew to become one of Australia’s leading poultry products suppliers – and this year marks the brand’s 100th anniversary.
Ingham’s traces its proud history back to 1918, when Walter Ingham established a small family farm at Casula in Sydney’s southwest, starting with one rooster and six hens.
Walter’s sons Bob and Jack Ingham expanded the business and began innovating with new styles of processing and packaging. By the 1960s Ingham’s was supplying major retail and QSR customers while also building a strong reputation in foodservice.
In the 1980s Ingham’s led the way in developing innovative value-added poultry products and in 2001 it established the country’s largest poultry processing plant of the time, in Murarrie, NSW. Today Ingham’s employs over 8000 people and operates a fully integrated farming, primary and further processing poultry business, providing an extensive range of quality chicken and turkey products from raw whole birds to value-added smallgoods and ready to heat and serve menu innovations.
As Ingham’s celebrates its centenary, the brand is reaffirming its long-term commitment to the foodservice sector, with a comprehensive promotional campaign set to kick off this month and run through to the end of the year.
“Ingham’s reputation in foodservice has been built upon our dedication to providing an extensive range of quality products to meet the needs of Australia’s foodservice professionals,” says Ingham’s Group Limited Sales and Marketing Director Jonathan Gray.
“We always say that no matter what your professional requirements, you’ll find Ingham’s has the answer – which is why we’re affectionately known as ‘The Professionals’ Choice’.
“Much has changed over the past 100 years, but Ingham’s has always maintained its commitment to excellence and its reputation for consistently delivering quality poultry products. The traditional values upon which Ingham’s built its success still hold true today – and we can all agree that’s well worth celebrating!”
