One of Australia’s largest poultry suppliers, Ingham, now produces free range chickens for the Australian market.
Check out our Free Range Products found in the Meat Department and look for the Free Range logo on the Ingham pack!
If you have purchased an Ingham Chicken, you can be assured there are no hormones or steroids used in its production. Similar in look and size, free range chickens are nutritionally equivalent to other chickens however they may offer a slightly different taste and texture as the chickens have access to natural food sources in their diet.
Free Range means chickens have access to paddocks outside during the day (weather permitting) and are free to roam, scratch and peck. Our other chickens are also free to roam, but inside their sheds. All sheds are well ventilated and temperature controlled. Ingham Free Range chickens are gently herded into their sheds at night to prevent attack by natural predators such as foxes.
Fed a grain formula to supplement their natural diet, our Free Range chickens (as well as their normal counterparts) are not given any hormones or steroids and all feed is formulated to meet strict Free Range Poultry Association standards.
The growing procedures for Free Range chickens are strictly regulated and farms are accredited by the Free Range Poultry Association, an independent body. Once accredited, Ingham farms are checked by technical services personnel, audited by Field Husbandry officers and audited by the Free Range Poultry Association.
Ingham Free Range farms are located throughout Australia. Ingham Free Range products can be found in your local supermarket meat cabinet.
To be assured you have purchased a Free Range chicken, look for the Free Range logo on the pack, which means the chicken has been farmed in accordance with Free Range Poultry Association guidelines, audited and accredited.
Either way, for peace of mind, next time you purchase a chicken, ensure you ask your retailer for an Ingham chicken. |
